1. Using Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Internet Explorer, I can't download any file Security management has changed in SP2. We recommend Firefox as an alternative browser. Nevertheless, if you want to use Internet Explorer, please select "internet options" in the "tools" pulldown, then security tab. Make sure "Internet" is selected in the "Content Zone" section and select "custom level". Reset to a "Medium" setting and then scroll down to "Downloads". "Enable" Automatic prompting for file downloads
You may have to restart your computer for changes to apply.
2. I can't hear any sound for samples... Make sure you have Quicktime 6 or later, or iTunes 4.5 or later installed on your computer.
There's two kind of samples. Those for records, those for downloads. For records, you have a 30-sec sample, often for each of the track available on the record. These samples are played with a continuous playback. For downloads you can listen to the whole track, but at a lower bitrate, and only for 30-sec steps. You only have to click on the image available in the player window to choose where you want to listen to the track. By default, it starts at the beginning of the track. According to your connection and browser, it may require some buffering.
3. Where can I see products I've put in my shopping cart You can see them in the top-right corner. Just click "cart" or your items to go to your shopping cart page You can also access this page by typing: www.neomusicstore.com/cart/
4. How secure is the credit card payment ? We don't collect any credit card information on Neo Music Store. All payments are made through our bank Credit Mutuel Citelis with SSL 128-bit (encryption used by all Internet merchants), so no payment data transfer on our servers. We only receive a notification of valid, canceled or refused payments.
5. When and how is my credit card charged when I make a purchase ? For downloads or credits, your credit card is charged in a 48 hour time frame from your payment. We recommend using purchase credits (available in your account) as they make your purchases easier, and cheaper (as you can obtain up to a 10% bonus)
For records and other products needing a delivery, you credit card is charged when the seller (label or record shop) sends your order or 6 days after your order maximum. If some products from your order are missing you may be partially charged accordingly, or even not charged at all if no product is available
6. Which encodings are available ? May I get severeal ones for a same track ? Labels are free to use any of these encodings for their tracks: MP3, MP4 AAC, OGG VORBIS, WINDOWS MEDIA AUDIO WMA or even a lossless codec: MP4 ALS (also known as Apple Lossless Audio in iTunes).
On a track information page, you see all encodings and bitrates available for this track. Having a track available in two encodings means you can download both encodings ! And for each file, we always offer 2 downloads, for backup purposes (or if you encounter any problem with a troubleshooting browser or configuration). Make sure you have backup on external drive and/or CD/DVD...
NEO MUSIC STORE WON'T ALLOW YOU TO GET MORE DOWNLOAD CREDITS FOR A TRACK ONCE YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED ALL OF ITS FILES
7. I encounter some problems when I try to download a file with my browser When asked what to do with a file, always press "Save as", and never "cancel", "application" or "plug-in". You'll then be prompted to choose a location on your hard disk and sometimes a filename. When you have to choose a filename please change .php extension with the extension of the downloaded file (mp3 for MP3, m4a for AAC, ogg for OGG VORBIS, wma for WMA and m4a for lossless)
Please see your download settings and download manager if you can't find the file. You can also search for it on your hard drive. By default, filenames are built like that: Artist-Title-Label.ext. If it seems your file is corrupted, simply look at its extension, and correct it if needed (Windows 98, Mac OS 7.x, 8.x and 9.x limit filenames to 32 characters for example)
8. What's the point of download credits ? There are many advantages to choose download credits:
· You don't have to type your credit card informations for every digital purchase you make
· You can add a track to your podcast with only 1 click
· You can subscribe to many label podcasts and get exclusive and premium content with the same download credit
· Thanks to limited credit cards charges on higher transactions (Contrary to small payments: up to 35 cents credit card charges on a €1 payment) Neo Music Store can allow you a bonus credit (up to 10%)
9. What is podcasting or podcast ? Please connect to: www.neomusicstore.com/podcasting/
10. Lossless, lossy, what does this mean ? Lossless: This refers to a codec that compresses only what it can, it will not actually cut out data. It reduces the size of music without affecting the quality, as the compressed signal is identical to the original. This results in large file sizes compared to an MP3 but still a large savings compared to the raw digital music file. In contrast a lossy format uses formulas based on a mathematical model of human hearing to calculate what humans can not hear well and discards the data in those frequencies.
